Providence Group Therapist - Child/Adolescent Psych Unit in Oregon City, Oregon

Providence is calling a Group Therapist - Child / Adolescent Psych Unit (0.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center in Oregon City, OR. This position will work 8-hour shifts and need flexibility to work at least 5 shifts per month.

We are seeking a Therapist Mental Health Associate - Mental Health Adolescent Child who will be responsible for providing clinically therapeutic programs and treatment in the inpatient behavioral health units. Under the supervision of the manager/director and in collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment team, the Mental Health Professional Associate (MHP Associate) is responsible for providing various modalities of treatment from a trauma informed clinical model that can include group, individual and family therapy. The MHP Associate is responsible for the psychosocial interventions established in the patient's treatment plan. The MHP Associate will use their education and training to assist in stabilizing and treating patients during their stay on the unit. The MHP-Associate provides feedback and input to the multidisciplinary team regarding their assessment of the patients strengths, capacities, and responsiveness to the treatment. In conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, the MHP-Associate will assist in supporting discharge planning efforts and interventions that support rapid stabilization and movement of the patient back into the community or the next level of care.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide assessment and develop appropriate psychological treatment interventions within a multidisciplinary team
Complete SLUMS and MMPIs with patients when necessary
Provide for the psychosocial rehabilitation of patients by providing group treatment and brief individual interventions appropriate to the age, condition, functioning and cultural background of the patient.
Provide with a high degree of independent judgment, individual and group treatment and support to patients and their families in the recovery process
Develop psychosocial treatment interventions that are goal directed and empower patients in their own recovery
Document progress toward each patient's treatment plan in the clinical system and makes treatment plan updates accordingly
Serve as primary provider of the psychological treatment on the inpatient psychiatric unit. Clinical services will include input into assessment of patients diagnosis, status, capacities, strengths and limitations
Be actively participate in the multidisciplinary team
Be actively assist in the management of the treatment milieu
Provide consultation to the multidisciplinary team, as needed
Create behavior intervention plans, when necessary
Complete shift hand-off report for continuity of care
Maintain unit security and participates in code grey events
Take an active role in patient de-escalations
Perform ongoing assessment and management of patients with suicidal or homicidal thoughts; and evaluates the need for support or involvement with family or collateral meetings
Provide family treatment as needed
Provide ASAM assessment and interventions appropriate to assessed stage of change, for patient with substance abuses
Contribute to high quality unit functioning by maintaining professional standards and ethics and strict confidentiality of information
Maintain professional therapeutic boundaries in relationships with patients
Assist with new employee orientating as directed by leadership
Assist with meeting all quality indicators as established by the department
Assist meeting all regulatory compliance metrics and requirements
Participate in unit task forces and committees as appropriate
Be actively seek out and attends training and obtains education to keep current on theoretical and practical applications related to adult, adolescent, adult or geriatric behavioral health issues
Coordinate daily workload assignments and projects to ensure productivity standards are met
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or other mental health related field from an accredited school, or from a school in candidacy status by the appropriate higher education council. -OR-
Master's Degree in Recreational therapy from an accredited school, or from a school in candidacy status by the appropriate higher education council. -OR-
Master’s Degree in Creative/Expressive Arts from an accredited school, or from a school in candidacy status by the appropriate higher education council, required.This Master's degree must be eligible for licensure as LPC or LMFT in accordance with the appropriate Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists
Temporary CSWA license, or proof of CSWA initiated within six months of hire. Must be working toward licensure that must be completed within 5 years of state board approval. Documentation of an approved supervision plan -OR-
Working toward licensure with NCTRC. Documentation of an approved supervision plan required. Must obtain clinical licensure within the deadlines established by the appropriate Oregon board of licensure -OR-
LPC Registered Intern or LMFT Registered Intern from the appropriate Oregon Board, within six months of hire. Must obtain clinical licensure within the deadlines established by the appropriate Oregon board of licensure
Experience gathering histories of mental and physical disabilities, alcohol and drug use, past mental health services and criminal justice contacts
Documented education, experience, and competence in identifying precipitating events
Ability to assess family, social, and work relationships and conduct a mental status assessment
Ability to provide a variety of group modalities
Knowledge and skills to help patients prepare for discharge to the community
Ability to focus treatment on prompt assessment and evaluation, interventions that provide early stabilization, and discharge within expected length of stay
Knowledge and capacity to provide therapeutic solution-focused treatment to the applicable population and in an acute care setting
Ensures adequate, timely, and appropriate documentation to meet all federal, state, and hospital guidelines including the ability to document a DSM diagnosis
Ability to write and supervise a rehabilitation plan
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
One (1) year experience in an inpatient mental health setting
One (1) year experience with child/adolescent population in an inpatient setting
