Providence is calling Patient Registrars to work in our Hospitals in the Portland Metro area.
Potential opportunities may be located at Portland, Beaverton, Willamette Falls, Milwaukie, and Newberg. We are looking to fill Full Time, Part Time, and On-Call positions working various shifts (Days, Evenings, and Nights). Business needs may require staff to cover this position 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Providence St Joseph Health is seeking Patient Registrars who will secure appropriate patient record and account reimbursement by obtaining complex demographic, insurance, and medical information.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Interview patients in a courteous, efficient, and accurate manner to ensure correct and complete information is obtained and documented.
Assess the patient's ability to complete admission process prior to going to their hospital room or receiving services.
Alert clinical staff if the patient needs immediate attention.
Verify patients demographic information and identify them in the Providence Health System Master Patient Index or creates a new record in the MPI as appropriate.
Obtain required information from payor systems to ensure maximum reimbursement of all accounts.
Identify patients with non-participating plans and resolves issues with appropriate staff and physicians.
Verify and prepare all necessary forms, documents, plates, labels, and wristbands to ensure proper patient identification based on patient type.
Maintain current knowledge and competency of all government and third party payors which are complex and ever-changing.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year experience in customer service or healthcare registration
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
2 years college education
Strong customer service experience in positions working with the public
Satisfactory completion of college level Medical Terminology or Medical Assistant course
National Certification of Certified Health Care Access Associate (CHAA)
Registrar and third party payor experience
Healthcare experience, in either a provider or payor site
